Today's objective

Yesterday I had to feature in another group's shoot because I am their main artist, however before I did the shoot I was going through my photography and picking the main ones that stood out for me I could complete the interior design of my CD case.

these are the pictures I took in the TV studio, sadly most of my pictures got deleted so I will have to work with these pictures. My goal in the nearer future is to have 4 main images that I will use.

From the previous meetings that me and my partner conducted with our main artists , we understood that they are both only available on Thursday's, meaning  the photography needed to be done on a Thursday. Unfortunately the photography studio was booked out for tomorrow so we have to use the TV Studio. An advantage with using the TV Studio again is that we are already familiar with the location seeing as we had used it for the shooting of the music video, and therefore able to utilise the lighting for our photographs, in addition I feel that my photography will be better in the Tv studio because it will allow me to play around with the lighting whether if the lighting is soft or hard or me using the butterfly effect.
The booking made was for 9th December 2015 from 12:50 -14:50

In addition to the location booking, we had to book out the cameras in order to use them for the day. This was done using the booking site ; LSC Expressive Arts

WHAT I DID TODAY

This is a short collage of the potential fonts I  may use throughout my print media product, I really like the one I marked in black. However I am still at the point not knowing what i will be doing because me looking back at case studies these type of written fonts are made to appear unique.

Researches for task

Today I have started to think of case studies for my own digipacks  

my plan for the upcoming days is continue to do some research on digipacks and to analyse all the elements

  This an image of me and partner today we have completed our music video as well as that we also added some of the ideas of improvements following the feedback from Monday.

This week we have booked the editing suite for:

24th: 16:20 -18:30
25th: 12:50 - 13:20
26th: 10:10 - 11:30

This week the plan is:

• Book at least 2 additional editing sessions to complete the extra editing needed from the feedback
• Make a start on Task 8
• Continue blogging

The audience and the teachers gave points of improvements, what they liked. We also asked the audience whether we should edit every green screen element to black, to have it all green or the have a mixture of both and they gave us their opinions on that.

The parts they liked was the camera angles, the choreography, the cutting rate, the vibes given off by the actors, crowd and dancers and the narrative. The majority of the audience preferred that we have a mixture of the green and black, one comment by a classmate Courtney was "the green adds a pop of bright colour as the song is quite vibrant and upbeat."

The parts of improvement was to add some more footage as it was a bit heavy on one side with the same continuous location. Also at the beginning we could introduce the song by making it muffled so it seems like he's listening to the track on his phone. Danielle wanted to see more of the people dancing at Stratford more as it adds something more onto the video and Vanessa wants to see more close up lip sync in the video.

ACTION TAKEN:

We both appreciate the feedback given by the audience and the teachers, from that we have decided to mix some of the green and black backgrounds, also to add on more footage of close ups and other locations at the other half of the video so that it evens out everything. With the help of the technician Tom we would be able to create a muffled introduction to the song instead of using two different songs in the introduction.

Today is the deadline for the editing of the video. me and partner have completed the editing to the deadline

Today was the reshooting of the tv studio scenes which I think went well we used the green screen to put the emphasis on the performance including the two lights to make it seem professional and look real and that the artists uniqueness... there was more  enthusiasm from the actors.  
Also after college, we stayed behind till 7pm to arrange all the shots taken into the desired order. Tomorrow with the help of the technician Tom, we would add some special effects onto the video. 

After that the additional editing session tomorrow, the video would be ready and completed for deadline and the screening/ audience feedback on Monday.

researching music video for 2 attempt of music video (case study)

Due to the criticism I received from my teacher telling me my filming in the studio of the two main characters performing looked amateurish due to the fact there was wires all over the place the camera went in and out of focus. The action I decided to take was watching all types of music videos and analyzing and evaluating their techniques. From this video the key information that i will be utilizing is the camera techniques used when the artists are performing on stage for we have a similar scene similar to this in our music video
I have also decided to use this as a case study towards my music video. What i learned from this music video is that they use the camera angles and techniques to make the audience feel as if they are involved and a part of the video, I feel like this the reason why the use 3 main camera techniques which are very much simple, not to confuse the audiences with too many camera movements.
What i have also taken from this case study is that with the camera movement you can actually make the viewer/ audience feel a certain type of way and gain the type of emotion you want them to gain by the camera technique.

After speaking to both of the actors, they both are available for this THURSDAY, therefore the studio is booked for this Thursday from 12-1.50. 

Today vanessa watch the completed parts of our music video and told us what we should improve this consisted of :
GOOD POINTS:
-Narrative element is good and is perfectly filmed 
-The choreography is very good
-The solo's are very good
-Some good elements of camera angles
-Locations go well with the narrative and the theme of the song 
-The open mic audience scenes are very good

IMPROVEMENTS:
-Refilm the TV Studio and include more close ups than long shots
-Include some cutbacks instead of separating the two locations, this will portray your editing techniques


From the feedback given we have decided to refilm the TV studio scenes paying more attention to the different camera angles and keeping the camera in focus. To be able to do so we need to contact the main actors to see if they are free again for filming either this week or next.

This week the booked additional sessions to edit the video would be on the following dates:

Today me and my and my partner continued to edit, however for the next 2 weeks we will be editing everything to the teeth for the music video mostly after every filming session we have arranged the shots into order. however we are currently focusing on our editing techniques stated on the storyboard we had created.

Our group Target is to focus on TEAM WORK & ADDITIONAL EDITING SESSIONS, alsp 2 weeks is a short time period to get everything sorted so we would need more time from and take out time for extra editing 
Personal Target:
My target is to blog more.

This week the booked additional sessions to edit the video would be on the following dates:

TUESDAY 17TH: 12.50-1.50
WEDNESDAY 18TH:12.50 - 1.50
FRIDAY: 11.40 - 1.50

For the next 2 weeks we would be undergoing detailed editing on the music video.
After every filming session we had arranged the shots into the desired order. But from this day forth we would be forcusing on our editing techniques stated on the stroyboard we had created.

Group Target:
The group targets are to focus on TEAM WORK & ADDITIONAL EDITING SESSIONS, this is because its a shared project so we have to make sure that we both give ideas whilst editing. And also 2 weeks is a short time to get everything sorted so we would need more time from our own spare time to complete editing.

Personal Target:
My target is to blog regularly 

Today we had to reschedule the TV studio booking for today as no one was available for that day anymore. 

The rescheduled date will be confirmed later down the week.

We have also cancelled the extra filming for stratford and leytonstone as there is no longer need to do so.

Aims and Objective

During the upcoming weeks i have many aims and objectives such as:

• To attempt finishing editing the whole of the music video by the 23rd November 
• Before the end of this month make sure I complete total improvements on blog set by my teachers as well as updating my blog regularly
• TV studio (already booked for the 23rd November 
• Make improvements on all tasks

We are continuing placing all the shots taken in order, after we place everything we would consider adding special effects including the blur effect to symbolize reality and drifting to a happy place.

5th filming

We filmed today from 2pm - 5pm at Hackney Wick. This is the last location for the video. 

The shoot went very well and we was able to complete every element needed for these scenes by 5pm. All the actors and dancers came on time and was able to travel to this location at minimal cost.
This time we made sure that all the shots taken were in focus and that we stuck to the camera shots mentioned in the storyboard.

Team Meeting 6

This team meeting was held at the usual place and at the usual time because we are all already used to the times and location. The whole production crew (director, producer, actors and dancers) was present at the meeting. A detailed plan on what would happen and what we expect them to do. Here is a list of the things that was discussed.

Objectives

Editing session 3

In today's lesson me and my partner have continued shortening our recordings and placing them in a specific order however doing so we have decided to re-shoot certain elements the reason being within some aspects of the video the camera (camera 5) does out of focus so we decided to re-shoot during half term.

what we did today

we went up to the editing suite to arrange our shots.We also showed our media teacher Amy what we have currently done and asked her  advice on what we could improve on.
The feedback Amy gave us was:

Some of the shots for the performance element in the TV studio are out of focus.
From this we have decided to go over the some of the elements of the TV studio again over the half term and making sure this time they are in focus.

4th Filming

Me and my partner decided to re-shoot the whole of the Stratford and bus scene all over again due to the fact camera 3 quality was much more advanced than camera 5, what was different from camera 5 to camera 3 was the fact that the light balance was not as consistent from camera 5 unlike camera 3 which was close to perfect.

Film 3

After the team meeting on the 16th , we started the filming of the home scenes from 8pm - 9:30pm we started our 2nd filming of the scenes in Stratford from 10:00pm - 10:50pm. 

Team meeting

Today me and my partner have arranged a team meeting with our main actor and one of our other actors. We once again chose same time and place as we are all able to get to the location on time. 

The purpose of this meeting was to inform the actors of the plan for tomorrow. We discussed the clothing and timings. The decision made was to get to mine at 8pm and shoot the bedroom scene, the shoot would last at least 1hr30 so that we are able to get every single shot in that is on the storyboard. Then from my partner's house we decided to make our way to Stratford to complete the rest of the Stratford scenes.

Editing part 1

                          

After a very successful shoot today at the TV studio, me and my partner  took time out of the media lesson to edit the shots taken for the first part of the video we did this to see if we had all the shots we originally wanted as well as that to save our our work for we share files. Using the editing software in the editing suite at college enabled us to do this. 

The difficulty that my partner first had with this software was that she forgot how to render and cut shots which lead to some confusion at the beginning but after the help of our media teacher Amy and me , we managed to manipulate the software to our liking, Editing is a progression for everything me we shoot we edit we hope to finish editing after the half term holidays. 

FILIMING 2

Today we had our 2nd filming at Leyton Sixth Form College in the TV Studio. We had two bookings of the studio one at 9am-10am and the other at 12pm-1pm.

In the first booking we focused on the actors: lip sync, different camera angles that i used from my research on DSLR helped my create sensible camera techniques that is making our music video look professional, some dance and portraying a genuine friendship between the two. This went successfully well despite the fact that the two actors have not worked together before, me and my partner both personally think this is because they both have an interest in this genre of music and both speak french.

The second booking  was focused on the audience. Me and a friend of Danielle went around gathering first year students at Leyton to come and be an audience for the video. This went better than expected because they was all bubbly, excited and showed genuine interest in the chosen song.

Through the enjoyment of the audience we would be able to show the theme of the song; enjoyment and how the African community are able to come together despite which country they are from through Afrobeats. This applies to every ethnic community also not just African.

         

Team Meeting

Today me and my partner held another team meeting with our main actors to make sure everybody knows and understand what kis expected by them and what will be the events of tomorrow for our shoot in the Tv studio at leyton Sixth form. Me and my partner also reminded the actors what time they will be expected to be at the TV studio and what time we will close the shoot. As well as that me and partner decided to make sure we get to college at 8:30 giving us 30 mins to prepare and get all the props that we needed and to get to the studio at 11:30 for the second booking for the same reason. Also Joel would need a visitors pass as he doesn't attend Leyton Sixth Form College, Syntyche told the group that the pass had been approved by reception and the security had been informed so the decision was that Joel comes into the college with me to gain entry.

Completed flyer prop

This is an image of the completed prop that me and my partner have created for this will be put on to a main focus in one of the scenes in our music video so it is crucial that we create a flyer that will not only go with the theme of our music video but also it looking professional for this will make our music video look more professional.  There was many changes we made from our previous leaflet from a couple of days ago, the main changes we made was the font instead of using Castellar for the name of the producer and of addition information we used Hattenscweiler the reason to why we used this font was because this font was very common for many flyers when we were researching previous and existing flyers so we used those as an example while creating our flyer.



The theme colour for our flyer was RED,BLACK AND GREY
We used a website that helped us chose a sensible colour scheme for our leaflet as the webiste provided us a chart of psychology for colours becuase as media students we understand everything included in a moving art symbolises something so it was important to use this within our flyer.

First film

Yesterday suite of the producer and director meeting , we started filming the bus scenes at Stratford from 8pm - 9pm. Here are some pictures of the work we did yesterday.

Our main prop that I have mentioned in my other post (open mic flyer) we created the final design on Adobe InDesign , we did this because we wanted our flyer to have a real and professional feel of our flyer for this will make our music video seem more professional. Before creating the flyer on Adobe InDesign we created a draft on a piece of paper this was for us to properly plan where things will go on the flyer what colours and fonts we will be using. In this lesson we have created a paper draft and a creating the flyer in progress on InDesign.

Today me and partner have planned to have planned at 20:00pm, we have planned to meet up because we wanted to take on establishing shot and panning shot of the bus arriving and leaving the bus station, the reason to why we have decided to shot when it was dark was because it was more likely for the bus station being empty and it will be easier for us to gain a clear view of the buses meaning this shot will not be hectic.  a
