Logistics Notes

Risk Assessment & Recce (locations) = DO THESE AT THE SAME TIME

Recce: Pictures of all the locations , analysis/notes and link back to story board.

Risk Assessment: When visiting the location fill in the risk assessment sheet stating anything risks/hazards and what actions we are going to take to avoid / control them from occurring using the risk assessment template.

Release: Need to get permission to film if the location is privately owned i.e. car park, shopping mall, someone's house, and also a talent release form for all the actors that would be in the video. Use the template given to complete and sign.

Team Roles: Who's doing what (Director, Camera, Costume/Continuity)
Produce a sheet on props, costumes and makeup, show some evidence: Moodboard/Pinterest.

Team Meetings: Blog / Video those

Call Sheets: Look at the storyboard and see what will be seen first and the set/locations. Pages referring to the storyboard the location and the call time of the actors. Need to be given to everyone in the crew so they know the plan of the day. = TO BE DONE LAST

Evaluation of Task 4 The feedback

The feedback that me and my partner have received from the audience and the teacher are:
• Good Dancers are needed
• Reliable actors and actresses
In relation to this me and my partner have both decided to have made 3 Dancers the minimum amount , this is because we already have 3 reliable dancers and they all fall within the budget we intend to use. Additionally it would be freestyle dancing instead of choreography as we have limited time to do the choreography and shoot the video and the same time. Freestyle dancing would be much easier and the dancers will be able to express themselves more relating to the lyrics and theme of the song.
Change of Storyline:
After deep consideration we have decided to the scrap the bedroom studio as the actor for that scene is currently unavailable and thereby unreliable. Another reason is that the current storyline idea was a bit too ambitious which would make it difficult and too complicated to shoot and edit especially with the given time scale.
"Main actor given a leaflet to an open mic event, reads the leaflet and calls his female friend asking her if they should perform their song and the female agrees, they meet up on the day of the event and make their way there to perform. The success of the performance pushes them to leave the stage and continue singing outside attracting dancers and audience."
The narrative/Performance Idea, location, budget, clothing and lip sync still remains the same.

SONG
Chosen Song (starts at 0.15): Christy Lova ft Serge Beynaud - Venez Danser/ To Bina (Translation: Let's Dance) Chosen Genre: Decale Ndombolo (of Ivory Coast and Democratic Republic of Congo) Narrative/ Performance Idea:
The main male artist is currently going through a hard time in life, his pain and sorrow come to his attention when he is walking home through the alleyway in the dark. When he gets home, he finds refuge through music and starts being creative finishing off the track he had made with his best mate. After a track has been finished, he imagines the success of the song; invited to open mics and playbacks etc. At the end the video returns into the studio with him contacting his female friend that the video is done.

THE THEME

  1.  Theme: Enjoyment : This theme is portrayed throughout the performance based idea as the male artist finds joy through music and enjoys himself despite his situation. We intend to show this in the music video through bright lightening, light coloured clothes and daylight shots.
  2. Hope: This theme would be reflected in the narrative idea, as the male and female artist have high hopes that they would make it big with the song. For the male artist, his hope is the distraction from his current situation and gives him a drive for success.
LYRICS

Lyrics: The lyrics are in French, Lingala and a bit of English. The lyrics are basically telling the target audience lets dance and enjoy ourselves. An ethical consideration that me and my pair would have to take in mind is the translation of the lyrics or a understandable storyline for the video enabling other ethnicities to enjoy the song and have some sort of idea what it is about.

THE TRANSLATION FROM FRENCH TO ENGLISH
Translation: CHRISTY:Young girls and young boys, mothers and fathers lets all dance Paris and Brussels, Kinshasa, Brazza, Abidjan, Libreville lets all dance the music from Christy Lova. CASTING:

  1. Main male (teen)
  2. Main female (teen)

LOCATIONS

  1. College TV studio (LSC; LEYTON)
  2. Urban area for additional filming (SHOREDITCH/DALSTON/HACKNEY WICK/WALTHAMSTOW) Bedroom Studio (CHALK FARM; CAMDEN)
PROPS
  1. Flags (Congo & Ivory Coast)
  2. Wires,
  3. Mics
  4. Speakers
  5. Head phones

Target Audience: After careful consideration me and my pair have decided to place the target audience 16- 25 year olds. This is because I believe that the issue addressed in the narrative idea corresponds with the daily lifestyle of people these ages therefore this video would intend to aspire them and not give up hope. They can also understand that music is a source of refuge and distraction from current situations. Additionally the audience in that age range usually tend to get stressed very easily and forget how to have fun whilst young and enjoy themselves from time to time. Channel for Broadcast: Youtube and Twitter are frequently used by the target audience, the use of these social platforms would draw more attention to the promo video. The target group we aim to please are digital natives and would notice a new video more if it is where they are able to reach it thereby stimulating word of mouse on the common social networking 14 - 25 year olds use and leading to more sales of the track due to the video.

    The plan -the treatment

    Summary what we did today

Song : Christy lovaft serge beynaud let's dance

Narrative: male is going through though times within his life.
The start of the video could be on the man male walking in the alley way of darkness symbolizing sadness and emptiness. The second scene is if him walking in his room and displaying his comfort in music by creating a track then he calls up his female friend going through the similar situation to help him with the new track we created. In the third scene she goes to him and then they go to the open Mic to promote the song then in they leave and continue singing outside then there is a transition which leads him back to his bedroom dialling the female friends phone with just a hello making the whole open Mic and dancing a dream, the last scene will just be of him saying hello.

The meaning of lyrics is just about enjoying life and dancing.

The spider-scribe we created contains all types of information from our actors, costumes, what songs we have, the amount of dancers we need and finally, common themes, age groups and ethnic groups. we created this to gain clearer idea of our music video and where we see it going

The planning of the treatment and what it will be about

    The genre we chose

The genre that me and my partner have chosen is a song that has an Ivorian and Congolese mix.
we feel that being natives from those country will allow us to stretch our artistic skills and more so be able to express ourselves easily within our music video we also have a lot of similar ideas that we can bring together.

    Facts about Ivorian music
Ivory Coast's national anthem is L'Abidjanaise. French is the official language taught and spoken by Ivorians but many Ivorians have their own ethnicie tribe's language.
There are many music genre in Ivory Coast, musics from different tribes, Zouk, R&b, Hip-hop, Couper Decaler, Reggae, Zouglou, Pop, Arabic musics etc.... Ivory Coast have different varieties of music based on the population race living there.

    Facts about Congolese music
Music of the Democratic Republic of the Congo varies in its different forms. Outside of Africa, most music from the Democratic Republic of Congo is called Soukous, which most accurately refers instead to a dance popular in the late 1960s. The term rumba or rock-rumba is also used generically to refer to Congolese music, though neither is precise nor accurately descriptive.
People from the Congo have no single term for their own music, per se, although muziki na biso ("our music") was used until the late 1970s, and now the most common name is ndule, which simply means music in the Lingala language; most songs from the Democratic Republic of the Congo are sung in Lingala.

Let It Go Practice- OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO Preliminary Task (short evaluation)

This is my first practise music video I created in a group of three, me, Aamna Ali and Rashaan Muir. From this experience I have learned planning is a key to a successful music video, personally we did plan however the location we wanted was too ambitious in terms of on the day of the shooting we had to come up with another location, secondly as a team we should of split the roles more fairily and maing sure memebers of our team was doing their job properly suchas making sure we completed the whole song with no missing bits, for this was not the case we have missed a verse in the song. what went well in the making of my first music video was the fact that we planned what type of ediditng and camera movements we would use and why we would use those editing and camera movements however my personal targets is to be able to actually learn how to produce the different of camera movments in my upcoming project. From this experience I learnt that it is better to work in a small group with me and another person with the same vision as me as well as the same creative out look on things too this will enable me to push myself creativity for my music video project in addition working in a small group it will be more likely for us to complete all of our responsiblities.

Planning for practice first music video-Preliminary Task

These are the annotations we created as a group for the music video; we created a location for each verse because we felt that each verse has its own location. In conclusion we also created some annotations o what camera and editing techniques will be used for each verse
